A Little Bit About Our Family
Sparkling Paws is family owned and operated by Allison and Joseph Cunningham. In addition to Allison and Joseph, the Sparkling Paws family consists of two mix breed dogs , Nala and Dobby, and a tiny human Lillian.
Allison is the groomer of the family with almost 20 years of experience working with dogs and a self proclaimed dog nerd. She started her career working in various kennels and shelters to gain knowledge and experience. Being drawn to the training aspect of working with dogs, she pursued schooling for dog training and became a certified trainer with Animal Behavior College in 2009 and took that education and experience to various daycare and boarding facilities. While working as a dog daycare group play attendant and trainer, grooming caught her interest. So she pursued education in that field as well, becoming a Certified Groomer from Furry Tails School of Pet Grooming in 2012. Moving on from boarding facilities, she managed a popular dog grooming salon for over a year. Overseeing group play was a passion she had trouble straying away from so she took a position as a groomer at a daycare facility. Continuing to expand her grooming knowledge and experience she worked closely with a very experienced groomer soaking in everything she could. Using her combined knowledge of dog behavior, training and grooming, Allison wanted to give her furry clients a more personalized and one on one grooming experience… and Sparkling Paws was born in 2016!
After working for over 10 years as carpenter, Joseph decided to pursue education for his passion, working on cars. He graduated from Lincoln Technical Institute in 2004 as an automotive technician. While working for a small, family-owned car repair shop an opportunity arose in 2011 for him to take an entry position at a well known motorcycle dealership. While he wasn’t working on cars, Joseph quickly gained knowledge and experience to become a factory trained motorcycle mechanic. After working on motorcycles for almost a decade he was recently promoted to Manager and maintenance man at Sparkling Paws along with being a stay at home Dad. He is our “behind the scenes” guy and makes sure the day-to-day operations go smoothly, along with maintaining and repairing anything needed with the mobile salon. He is a handy guy to have around and Sparkling Paws wouldn’t be what it is today without him!
Our family very much enjoys being outdoors together, whether its hiking, fishing or just being outside enjoying the fresh air. Our dogs are like our children and come with us whenever possible!
